چکیده

SUMMARY Assessing the spatial and temporal heterogeneity in subsurface water storage has strong societal environmental implications, as it is key to assess availability for ecosystem society. This challenge especially significant mountainous areas, where local population totally depends on springwater a freshwater resource, while dynamics complex evaluate because exhibits spatiotemporal heterogeneities all scales result of topography. In this study, we compare balance headwater granitic catchment (CWB) with changes assessed from situ continuous gravity monitoring using an iGrav superconducting gravimeter (SGWSC) located at summit catchment. We show that SGWSC CWB exhibit similar annual cycle, although they deviate months following winter peak flow events. investigate reasons these discrepancies tank model adjusted SG signal. shows during events, effective discharge footprint area much lower than streamflow. attribute difference drainage term contribution upper part generation flow, compared part.

Satellite Altimetry and GrAcE Gravimetry for Studies of Annual Water Storage Variations in Bangladesh

Four different data sources have been compared with respect to observations of the annual water storage variations in the region of Bangladesh. Data from satellite altimeters and river gauges estimates the variation in surface water storage in the major rivers of Bangladesh. The GRACE satellites measure the integrated mass change and hence the terrestrial soil moisture variations, which can als...

A Preliminary Analysis of Lake Level and Water Storage Changes over Lakes Baikal and Balkhash from Satellite Altimetry and Gravimetry

Lakes Baikal and Balkhash are two of the world’s major lakes affecting fresh water supplies in their catchments. Measurements from satellite altimetry (TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1 and -2), satellite gravimetry (GRACE) and a hydrological model (LDAS) are used to see the relationship between lake level change (LLC) and water storage change in these two lakes. At Lake Baikal, the average rate of LLC i...

Water dynamics in cement paste : insights from lattice Boltzmann modelling

Transport properties are often used as indicators of durability because water underpins most of the degradation mechanisms of concrete structures. The objective of this thesis is to understand the link between the microstructure and the permeability of cement paste, the binder phase of concrete. To achieve this goal, the lattice Boltzmann method is used to simulate the flow through three-dimens...
